How to convert WebP to PNG

  1. 01

    Add your WebP files

Select one image or several. JPG and PNG files are accepted too.

  2. 02

    Choose transparency and size

Preserve transparency is on by default. Optionally limit the longest edge.

  3. 03

    Convert and download

Save each PNG separately or all of them in a ZIP.

Good to know

  • PNG is lossless, so there is no quality slider: the PNG contains the decoded WebP pixels exactly.
  • Turn off Preserve transparency to place the image on a white background.
  • Expect a larger file. A lossy WebP decompressed to PNG stores every pixel in full.
  • Animated WebP files are converted as a single still image.

Frequently asked questions

Why convert WebP to PNG?

Some image editors, office programs and upload forms still do not accept WebP. PNG opens almost everywhere and keeps transparency.

Does converting WebP to PNG improve quality?

No. It preserves what is in the WebP, but it cannot restore detail that lossy WebP compression already removed.

Is the transparent background kept?

Yes, by default. Transparent areas stay transparent in the PNG unless you turn off Preserve transparency.

Why is the PNG much larger than the WebP?

WebP is usually compressed much more aggressively. PNG stores the image losslessly, which takes more space.
